AI Engineer – LLM Product Development | FinTech | Antwerp

As a Senior AI Engineer, you help design, build, and ship the next generation of their AI assistant; a production-grade LLM-based agent that supports analysts throughout the mortgage assessment process. This is not a research role and not a low-code developer job; it’s hands-on engineering with a senior builder’s mindset.

You will work on:

– Developing and improving the AI agent that processes mortgage files

– Designing smart orchestration flows using N8N and custom Python components

– Integrating LLM models (commercial or open-source) into real product workflows

– Building reliable logic around context handling, document intelligence, RAG or knowledge retrieval

– Ensuring the AI behaves predictably in a regulated environment

– Collaborating with engineering, product, and domain experts to translate business logic into AI-driven automation

– Setting foundations for scalable AI infra (monitoring, safeguards, data pipelines, basic MLOps)

The AI platform is actively being built so you will shape it, not just maintain it.

You’re first and foremost a senior software engineer who knows how to build reliable features end to end. You don’t need to be an ML researcher — but you do have hands-on experience contributing to AI-driven features or projects, and you’re comfortable taking ownership in a fast-moving environment.

The platform uses a low-code orchestration layer (N8N), but the role is not for a low-code developer. You bring the engineering mindset needed to design, structure, and extend AI workflows with custom Python logic where needed.

You bring:

– Senior-level software engineering experience (architecture, debugging, delivery, ownership)

– Strong command of Python

– Some practical experience with LLM-based features or real-world AI components (RAG, prompt pipelines, document processing, model integration)

– Ability to design and structure AI-driven flows, including where low-code orchestration meets custom code

– Pragmatic problem-solving skills and the ability to ship iteratively

– Some familiarity with low-code orchestration tools such as N8N

A chance to build the core of a brand-new AI product in a FinTech that’s scaling fast, where AI is not just a buzzword but a central part of the future roadmap. You’ll have real ownership over AI features and platform decisions, working in a hybrid setup with 1–2 days per week in Antwerp.
