Software Engineer – Android / Kotlin / Java

As a Software Engineer, you will join a diverse team with a broad mix of experience, technical knowledge and backgrounds.

You will work on the development of a new generation of payment solutions for retail fueling and EV systems. Depending on your experience and profile, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of complete projects, from software design and architecture through to implementation.

The new payment terminal is Android-based and will be more versatile than the current solutions. In addition to traditional fuel pumps, the technology will also be used for applications such as EV charging stations and car wash solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

– Translating functional requirements into robust software designs and implementations.
– Designing, developing and improving Android-based payment solutions.
– Contributing to software architecture and technical decision-making.
– Taking ownership of projects and features from design through implementation.
– Working closely with other Software Engineers and colleagues within the wider Engineering organisation.
– Testing and validating your software with the relevant payment hardware.
– Contributing to the development of secure payment solutions in an environment involving PCI payment security and EMV payments.
– Keeping up to date with relevant technologies and development practices.
– Sharing knowledge and contributing to the continuous improvement of the team.

The role offers room for both experienced Software Engineers and more junior profiles with a strong technical foundation and the right potential.

We are looking for someone with a solid technical foundation and, just as importantly, the drive and personality to make an impact within the team.

You ideally have:

– Professional experience with Kotlin, or a strong background in Java with an interest in developing your Kotlin skills.
– Experience with Android development is a strong plus.
– A good understanding of functional requirements and the ability to translate these into effective software solutions.
– Experience with other programming languages such as C# or C++ is an advantage.
– An interest in modern software development technologies and a mindset of continuous learning.
– Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach.
– The confidence to communicate your ideas, take initiative and challenge the status quo when needed.
– A strong sense of ownership and pride in the quality of your work.
– An interest in seeing your software used in real-world applications on an international scale.
– Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a diverse team.
– Fluent English. Dutch is a plus, but not a requirement.
– Experience working in a multinational environment is an advantage.
